The development of celestial objects in Lvov was on the same level as in Berlin, Vilnius and Vidnya, and the equipment of the observatory was not comparable to the current European ones. Scientists were recruited from the Lviv University, where they specially taught a special course in astronomy. The main directions of activity of the current establishment are the investigation of the Sun, the stars, the interstellar medium, the galaxies and the Universe as a whole. Directly important activities are also laser-remote, photometric and positional monitoring of the Earth’s artificial satellites. A set of telescopes for such precautions is in the register of scientific objects, which becomes the national landmark of Ukraine.
